This hydrocephalus parent support group in Salt Lake City, Utah is based out of Primary Children’s Medical Center. It was initially created for parents and families of children with hydrocephalus, but is open for anyone with hydrocephalus or anyone whose life is affected by hydrocephalus. Through the support group, members will receive education about current treatments and therapies, an opportunity to meet other people that are going through similar struggles and a chance for active involvement in an organized group.
How often does the group meet?
There are meetings about every 4 months. The meetings are held in the evening in the auditorium at Primary Children’s.
What happens at the meetings?
The meetings are a time for parents to learn about hydrocephalus and socialize with other parents. At each meeting one of the Neurosurgeons from Primary Children’s will speak as well as another featured speaker. The featured speaker will focus on a specific issue that parents are faced with on a daily basis. Topics may include developmental issues, sibling support and respite options.
